About Me
I started playing the violin when I was 4 years old here in Elkhart with Sharon Stauffer at the Elkhart Suzuki School. When I got to middle school I began working with Dr. Kathy Oyer in Goshen. Throughout middle and high school I was in the orchestra at Concord Schools under Karen Braden, and I was part of the South Bend Youth Symphony program. After High school I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Indiana Universty Jacobs School of Music. While there I studied with Dr. Brenda Brenner and Prof. Mimi Zweig.
I have always had a passion for teaching and education which led me to earn a Bachelor's in Music Education. After graduation I moved with my Wife to Saint Louis, MO to begin my career teaching. I taught grades 4-12 at the Lindbergh School District for three years. Now my wife and I are back in Elkhart and I am trying to build a studio of private violin/viola students!
As a private teacher, I have worked with children ranging from 4 through 18 years old as well as adult beginner students. My students have earned top scores and medals at the ISSMA and SLMEA contests/festivals. The level of my students ranges from beginner to advanced students wishing to pursue a degree in music.
Currently I am performing with the Elkhart Symphony, Symphony of the Lakes, and as a member of the Elkhart String Quartet.
Along with music I am a technophile. I love computers and technology in general. I have done some work in IT in the past and have always enjoyed working with technology as a hobby.
